The lush green ferns alongside one of the many cascades of Cataract Creek exemplifies the majesty of Northern California’s forests.
I was extremely lucky to get to explore this area of Northern California last year with my bud Alex who I met on a Nick Page workshop in 2018, as my work had me down in the area for a month with some time off to get out and shoot.
When we started chatting about where to go shoot, I immediately started looking for waterfall opportunities and Cataract Creek in the Mount Tamalpais Watershed seemed promising as we had some solid rain the past week.
We hiked up through most of the trail, stopping and scouting along the way, and decided to double back to this particular waterfall. Sure glad we did! It took a precarious stance to straddle the rocks and get this composition, but the focus stacked fern was worth it!
