The glowing slot canyons of Kanarra Canyon lit up on this August afternoon with my buddy Gio Rizzo. After dealing with the hordes of people at the falls, I quickly turned back and spent some quality time with the textures and light on these walls as soon as I could.
After living in the Pacific Northwest for so long, I’ve really enjoyed exploring and capturing the diversity of the Southwest. What seemingly looks like just rocks and sand becomes way more interesting when you examine it and change your perspective.
Shooting in these landscapes also challenges me as a photographer, as I’m way more comfortable shooting seascapes and forest scenes. This in turn makes the images I create more memorable to me in a lot of ways, when I have to work harder to get it.
